Most people call them monsters-in-law
But they never met the one that was mine
And while the marriage became a flaw
In the “monster” a true friend I did find
We’ve traveled some roads together
Both funny and painful days
The love has grown beyond measure
Though we often go our own ways
We touch base here and there
Using the kids to connect up
But even without them to share
The friendship was bound to develop
She’s helped me through countless crises
Jumped in to the heart of the fire
Her hand of friendship strengthens
When my life is stretched thin as a wire
This is my way to say thank you
For treating me so tender
And for all that you've helped me through
Your always my favorite “monster”
